It's always something on comic days isn't it? I found out this bit of info and had to rant before whipping up a comic to further jab a thumb into the eye of all things current. Not to mention finding a video to scrape screenies from. I suppose it could have waited until Friday, but this has me REALLY excited. Even if nothing comes from it, and WAR goes on about it's normal life, at least there's a chance RIGHT NOW for big things to change. WAR is great as is, but there's a lot of things that were either overlooked or deemed unnecessary that would make it BETTER. Through the midst of all the blogs and news sites I had to troll to find enough information to make this comic work, there's still a metric ton of WAR haters out there. It still to this day surprises me how many WoW purists there are, and because of that no MMO is going to get the love it takes to survive.

There's an alternative to this, and WAR is poised to make it happen. WoW is classically a PvE game, WAR is at heart and soul an RvR game. WoW makes feeble attempts to make PvP fun and awesome but ultimately fails. WAR makes feeble attempts to make PvE fun and awesome, but just doesn't have the might to even show up against the current king. What to do? Simply put, take the elements of WoW that everyone pines for, and instead of directly copying them via the PvE route, do what you're good at and convert them into RvR. Hasn't Mythic noticed the pure joy players get from Live Events? We all rush out into RvR and pound the HELL out of each other for something as simple as a title. PvE be damned! What happened to Conflict PQ's in T4? Bring back a couple of those, and have them bleed into RvR areas! WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DOES CRAFTING HAVE TO SUCK? See my previous post on that one. Base it off RvR for the awesome recipe's and ingredients, then scale back what you can possibly get in PvE.

WAR has all the potential in the world to become an anti-WoW, heavily favoring killing players over trash mobs for fat loots. No one at the moment has a hope of taking the crown from WoW, but we can make a new one from the guts and bones to wear for ourselves. It's already on the right track by rewarding players with some of the best loot in the game through RvR kills, zone flips, fort attacks (and defense) and city invasions. Land of the Dead, if it works correctly will be a great example of how new "Instance"-style zones should be done, and old ones should be converted to (Gunbad-Bastion-LostVale). This way we're not trying to do the PvE game better, it's just not possible. But we CAN do the RvR game better, and just as good as a mirror to WoW's PvE game. Isn't this the goal?

Happy (belated) Fathers day to all you proud daddies out there. Me and my daughter went camping over the weekend, and she has got to be the most hardcore 2 1/2 year old I know. Took our 4-wheeler into the woods and she was begging for speeds in excess of 50mph! God I love my child. Just need to train her in the arts of WAR so she can level me toons while I grind away at work.

In the WAR, the weekend has been quiet, while the past week was hotfix after patch after server maintenance with a scrambling of activity to plug the holes and right the wrongs. I honestly had a lot of fun over the weekend while Keep doors were broken open. The Live Event and Reikwald Factory have been excellent, and it's all coming to an end next week so get your fill! I still have 3 toons to run through the LE awards, even if it is only for a stupid pair of Titles. Praag was awfully competitive during the week in expedition resources, but over the weekend we went from a 30k lead, to a 200k deficit. Looks like Destruction on Praag will have access to LotD first after all. Ah well, it just means we get the first chance to run em out of town! Ha ha!

Jeff and Paul are back in a special double-wide, extra frame, fatty fat fat goodness comic. Mostly because I felt like it! Don't try and judge my rhyme or reason, lest it may tempt me into doing more (horrible) MSPaint sketching. Hehe. Games Day Toronto is coming up, and I have a feeling I'll be making the trek from Detroit to Canadia for the event. It's the closest one to brush by so far, and I really can't blame ANYONE for avoiding Detroit like the plague. How many major international cities get their mayor thrown in prison? Think you might show up? Leave a comment and we can rally down there. There's a post at the official forums for Praag server here.

Got a WCPI ready for tomorrow, and maybe a post later tonight if my guild members get me all rant-y again.

Because if I were a producer at Mythic, I probably wouldn't tell him anything either.

Looks like they're fixing the piles of bugs that came with 1.3 rather quickly. Supply lines were the biggest problem I had so far, but non-closing Keep doors were fun too. Guaranteed a pretty solid hour of renown at each keep I defended over the past two days. Oh, and I got my full Conqueror set now with only 43% to RR45.

I'mma gonna go do that now. No time to waste!
PATCH DAY!

I'm not entirely sure what drove me to do this.

If it's bad, I'm sorry. It just sorta happened as a byproduct of... drinking too much last nite? There's a saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well here's a lot more words than the standard fare. I think it captures the frustration of a big ol fatty fat patch to download, but a little more extreme. I like extreme.

More podcast-types coming soon! But don't think this will be the last sketch either!

There's a saying to motivate people that goes something along the lines of "Light a fire under their ass." , but for all intensive purposes, I feel that WAR deserves much harsher treatment. It would certainly get these guys on point if such a clause existed, and I can't really put it past GW to include such a thing.

On the upside, there is indeed a pre-patch availiable (about 900MB of LotD goodness!), and there will likely be some small patch by the end of the week to activate it, and fix whatever they're working on now. You can find a link to it here. If you've been following WAR for a while, too scared to dip your toes into the violent waters, sub up now, get the pre-patch, and level up to R25 as fast as you can. There's a lot of well deserved love being dropped into the game. I really wish they would post a modified patch note list. Hopefully sooner than later!

It's kind of a testament to how I feel when I play on PTS. Yeah, we're there to find bugs and report them. Give constructive criticisms, helpful feedback. It's basically a volunteer service to overload the zone and find out what breaks down. It's just, there was SO much broken the first time I was in there, it really felt like a joke. The entire LotD cast of critters had no animations! "Andy" said it worked in the closed tests, and it was fixed shortly thereafter, but really? What kind of bug kills animations for every mob in a zone? Things like that make my head hurt a little.

Last I checked, Amsu was still spamming his Skull-of-warband-wiping attack during the final stage of his PQ. Still getting nailed by the Khopesh-of-one-shotting by random skeletons, particularly at the Obelisk PQ. They're working on things, and it's getting better. I just hope they finish this one off with a massive dose of hairglide and car wax. If you're gonna get a zone right in every facet, it needs to be this one.

Still tons of fun~ hehe

I fully intend to avoid City sieges like the plague when LotD finally gets released. Play on the Test server when there's some population around... It's gonna be great. I just hope they avoid setting the resources too high.

There it is, after about 22 screen captures and 3 different scripts... which means plenty of material left over for other days. I just wanted to get out the disillusionment many players may feel compared to our favorite producers. Anyone can acknowledge that the end game city siege doesn't feel quite right. Who knows if they ever plan on changing it! I certainly don't, and I can only hope they send a strike force to nail it down and shape it up.

So happy Friday everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the comic, cause it's a ton of fun to play with, and I think I might have to keep it going.

-edit: Is anyone else having trouble getting whichever random blog feed/RSS you use to update this site on a timely basis? For example, this was posted at about 5:30pm EST, but my Google Reader still hasn't picked it up. Thoughts?

I fully understand getting lost in the thought of ribbons and sex-symbols. Next one should be a good one! Double-wide, extra-frame, fat and sexy goodness!
Been a long day at work! I wouldn't want Paul's job though...

Wednesday will be earlier... I think.

In other notes, since Paul has tipped us off on Jeff's location, we're sending a team of Skaven in to flush him out. Perhaps Monday will see a duo appearance, in a special double-wide format.
Hee, I've been snickering at this one for a while.

Check that out! It came out so nice, fits just right, blends right in with everything. I am pleased.

Now to work on the next one!

It crossed my mind today that there doesn't seem to be a title for the little comic strip I've been working on. Lucky me, one of my guild members asked me what it was called and recieved a _BLANK_STARE_ from me. So I've been kicking around ideas, and stirring up a lot of dust. I hadn't really considered how people would go around (if they do at all) talking about "the new strip that Grimnir did while apparently on drugs one day", as opposed to referring to it by some proper name. Not that I mind people using a descriptive sentence instead of a title, but it just doesn't seem like it would have any standard, and certainly not concise.

Seems to be a no-brainer really, if it needs a title, it can simply be called "The Grudge", almost. You see, the problem lies in the confusion someone may have with a series of crappy horror movies that are also called The Grudge/2/3/4 etc. I don't really expect that someone will confuse the difference between a Warhammer blog-comic with a shoddy horror movie, but to keep things from being confused an addendum will be made. I've tentatively designed a new template for the comic as "The Grudge: A Warhammer Blog-Comic". This combines the previous title (being a descriptive sentance), and a simple and easy to remember title, that will become deeply ingrained in you mind forcing you to have sudden outbursts to your friends and drive my page view count through the roof... Or something like that anyway. You'll see the changes with the comic for tomorrow! If you're lucky, I'll even convert over the old comics (and leave the originals on the compendium page).

Speaking of that bar at the top, I may have to retitle it as "The Book of Grudges". Gosh that sounds nice, doesn't it?

Thank you very much Warhammer and all affiliated parties for giving me so much damn content to play with.

Now, I believe I have a WCPI to do...
Hope you had a good weekend. Hickman brings us bad news however...

I think that just about sums up the frustration people have with some of the beat-around-the-bush answers that we get. I just want a little rat to electrocute him on my command. Of course, Jeff may need some time to recover. Good thing there's a nice weekend coming up for him!
I'm not horribly creative, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun. I'll admit, it's new to me, so I'll probably learn more things as time goes by. In the meantime, post some questions for the captured Mythic King. I plan on having much fun with him. Hehe...

Right, that was fun. I have a MUCH better layout planned for next time (you can now find the original in the comic compendium page). Just got finished making a template for it to follow, and plotted out a few more conversations to have with Mr. Hickman. Good times I assure!
